Barakat, M.D., has had an extensive experience in the
evaluation, and treatment of chronic medical illnesses
throughout his residency and fellowship training, and
medical practice.
Dr.
Barakat obtained his medical degree from Aleppo
University. He underwent an Internship in Pediatrics
at East Carolina University, followed by 3 years of
Internal Medicine
Residency Training at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
He completed one year of Fellowship Training in Internal
Medicine at the same program, and one year of Fellowship
in Allergic Diseases at Tulane University.
Dr.
Barakat has been in practice for 8 years. He served as
the Medical Director for Goshen Medical Center in Duplin
and Wayne Counties, in the eastern part of North
Carolina, and was the Vice Chief of staff of Duplin
General hospital in Kenansville, North Carolina. He
moved to Raleigh with his wife and 2 sons and
established Leesville Internal Medicine in May 2005.
Dr.
Barakat received the American Medical Association
Recognition Award with Commendation in 2004. He has been
Board Certified by the American Board of Internal
Medicine since 1996.
Dr.
Barakat has had extensive training and a special
interest in the management of Diabetes Mellitus and
other endocrinology disorders, hypertension and
cardiovascular diseases, allergic diseases and
respiratory ailments, arthritis and muscular disorders,
and elevated cholesterol and the dyslipidemias. He is
affiliated and on the medical staff at Rex Hospital. |
